About the Film
Requiem for a Dream follows a lonely character (LAMIA) who wanders the streets of Hong Kong, reflecting on a past relationship in a surreal, dreamy nightworld. Her night wanderings give her the space to realise her loneliness, and that she must let go of the past and move on.
LAMIA wrote, recorded, and produced ‘Requiem For A Dream’, and also directed and edited the music video. Set in the neon-lit streets of Hong Kong, the video follows LAMIA, playing herself and a character, a heartbroken protagonist who wanders through a liminal nightworld, where her wandering makes her realise that she must let go of the past.
The video explores life’s complex experiences, such as urban dreams of self-actualisation, loneliness, and psychological fragmentation, creating an audiovisual world where the intimacy of the music and cinematic storytelling intertwine. Through LAMIA and her work, audiences can see and reflect on aspects of themselves.

Eleanor Griffiths (LAMIA)
Described by NOTION as “a rising star”, LAMIA is an artist, music producer, filmmaker, and researcher. A Music Masters graduate from Goldsmiths, University of London, she also studied at Leeds Conservatoire and The BRIT School. She now studies a Masters in Film.
Praised by DMY Magazine for "redefining what electronic music can be: visceral, intellectual, and transcendent", LAMIA’s artistic approach has earned support from BBC Radio 1, DMY and KALTBLUT. Her award-winning videos have screened at The Berlin Music Video Awards and won accolades including ‘Best Music Video’ at the Berlin Indie Film Festival and Tokyo International Short Film Festival.

"I am excited about The Requiem For A Dream audiovisual project. It is my self-produced music and solo directorial debut. It is a project that examines life’s complex experiences, such as tensions between urban dreams of self-actualisation, illusion, and psychological fragmentation. Against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s metropolis, the video uses metaphors such as neon lights to signify LAMIA’s character as an outsider, relationship illusions, and the fragility between reality and imagination. I am deeply proud of this project. The conceptual exploration through music and video combined is my best work as an artist so far"
