The Berlin International Underground Film Festival (BIUFF) mourns the passing of acclaimed Iranian director Nasser Taghvai (Captain Khorshid, Tales of Kish). A winner at Locarno and a nominee for the Palme d'Or at Cannes, Taghvai was a symbol of artistic integrity who chose silence over compromise in his long struggle against censorship. His defiant spirit embodies the core values of BIUFF and its "4U" Grand Prize. His legacy as a hero of independent cinema will be cherished forever.
