SILENCE

Pavel Kuznetsov is a filmmaker, media educator, and cultural project leader from Russia whose work focuses primarily on social and educational themes. He is the head of the school media center 16 Media and the director of the LINE International Youth Film Festival, where he works with young creators and develops projects connecting filmmaking, media education, and social impact.

I created Silence because domestic violence is often hidden not only behind closed doors, but behind silence. What happens to a person does not simply disappear when the violence ends -memories, fear, and emotional triggers can remain long afterwards. I wanted to approach this subject without showing violence directly. Instead, the film focuses on its psychological traces: the moment when the past suddenly enters the present and becomes impossible to ignore. The film was created together with a young creative team, and this collaboration was an important part of the project for me. As a media educator, I believe that working with young filmmakers on socially significant subjects gives them an opportunity not only to develop their professional skills, but also to understand how cinema can become a tool for dialogue and social change. I am deeply grateful to every member of the team who helped bring Silence to life.
