Birds of Amsterdam

Birds of Amsterdam is a poetic music video inspired by composer and pianist Marcos Souza’s relationship with Amsterdam, where he lived and developed part of his artistic work. Rather than portraying the city through conventional landmarks, the film approaches Amsterdam through listening: birds, wind, bicycles, trams, bridges and the rhythm of everyday urban life. These sounds and impressions became part of the musical world of the composition. Directed by Bruno Sãnto, the video connects music, place and memory, moving between the city’s visual landscape and Marcos’s piano performance. The work reflects on how a city can remain within us through sound, and how listening can reveal a different way of seeing a familiar place.
