OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM BIUFF

To our filmmakers, artists, supporters, and members of the independent film community,

Over the past months, many of you have been waiting for updates regarding the Berlin International Underground Film Festival (BIUFF). Some filmmakers reached out to us and received no response. Others noticed the absence of festival announcements, schedules, selections, or public activity and understandably questioned the future of the festival.

Today, we would like to address this directly.

First and foremost, we acknowledge the prolonged silence and lack of communication. Our community deserved clearer updates, and we take full responsibility for this interruption.

During the preparation of our inaugural edition, BIUFF faced a series of operational and organizational challenges that significantly affected our ability to continue festival activities according to the original schedule. As a result, important communications, festival announcements, and planned operations were delayed beyond our expectations.

However, BIUFF has not been abandoned.

The festival remains active and is currently undergoing a process of restructuring and reorganization to establish a stronger and more sustainable foundation for future editions.

We understand that many filmmakers are concerned about the status of their submissions to the inaugural edition of BIUFF.

All projects submitted to the first edition remain an important part of the festival's history and development. We are currently reviewing available submission records, screening materials, and operational options in order to determine the most appropriate path forward regarding previously submitted works.

A dedicated update concerning first-edition submissions, selections, screenings, and future opportunities for participating filmmakers will be published separately once this review process has been completed.

In addition, all filmmakers who participated in the inaugural edition will receive direct communication regarding the next steps and available options as soon as the restructuring process reaches its next stage.

Our commitment to independent cinema, artistic freedom, and emerging voices remains unchanged.

We are currently working toward a renewed festival roadmap that will include future screenings, public events, community engagement, and a stronger organizational framework capable of supporting BIUFF's long-term vision.

We sincerely thank every filmmaker, artist, supporter, and member of our community who has remained patient during this difficult period.

Further announcements regarding future editions and festival activities will be published through our official channels in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your trust, patience, and continued support.
