Everybody wants to come to Brown

Juan Lucas da Rocha is a theater actor and documentary filmmaker. In 2007 he founded the militant film collective Silbando Bembas, with which he participated as co-producer and co-director of the feature films “Hecha la ley…” (2011), “La Sesenta” (2021) and “Ellos fueron, Ellos son” (2024) and numerous short films on political and social issues, among which “Los Gritos”, “Bollitos” and “Las Muertes Invisibles” stand out. “Everybody Wants to Come to Brown” is his first feature film as a solo director.

Everyone Wants to Come to Brown is not just a soccer film. It is the story of a man’s resilience, sustained by his community, who, at the lowest point in his life, reinvented himself while leading a small club to fame through unprecedented achievements and unimaginable dreams.

But it also tells a deeply personal yet universal story: how a neighborhood club creates bonds of belonging. I spent my childhood and adolescence at Brown, growing up among its facilities while my mother worked to support us. It is the same place where Pablo Vicó lives today, which led me to embody the role of narrator, guiding the viewer into the intimacy of those who live there.

“Why are we fans of a soccer club?” I ask in the film. This question is central to our exploration of the social bonds between a team and its supporters.
